Jonas and Ben have been sharing a studio for the past 6 months and will show the outcome of their work at Galleri Christinegaard. They have worked on their individual practices and experimented with collaboration.
Jonas has made a series of oil paintings and prints. These images are fantastic and sometimes tragic. They feature figures or characters such as a boy with a bird flying out of a penis: an alien trapped in a trapeze box: or a muddy faced red-eyed woman.
Ben has made wall based sculptures. They are makeshift and superficial structures, made with common everyday materials such as a Deli de Luca umbrella: a lotto ticket: and a Bulmers box. Ben is interested in shop displays: advertising: design and craft, which he reflects on through sculpture.
Ben and Jonas have also made collaborative work. This was an experiment to see how to combine their practices, and as a conclusion for the period of time they will share a studio.
